The DYMATE project is a cooperation project between the University of Potsdam, the European University of Flensburg, the Arctic University of Norway and the companies Literate AS (Tromsø, Norway) and Inklusion Digital GmbH (Berlin, Germany), which has been running since 2022. It deals with the topic of reading and spelling difficulties (LRS) in the context of primary and lower secondary education and aims to adapt an established digital test procedure from Norway for use in Germany. To this end, the Norwegian subtests will be translated, adapted and standardised as part of a Germany-wide study. An associated digital certification course for teachers is another part of the adaptation and ensures that the implementation and interpretation of the automatically generated test results are successful in a school context.

DYSMATE aims to improve and facilitate the diagnosis of reading and spelling difficulties in a school context. The classroom-based screening tests both reading and writing performance, and cognitive language processing mechanisms such as working memory, naming speed and phonological awareness are also tested in an individualised follow-up test. In addition to developing the test procedure, the project also aims to strengthen knowledge about reading and writing difficulties through scientific communication and to support teachers in their diagnostic skills.
