Diversity and Social Inequalities (WS 2018, SS 2019, WS 2019/20, SS 2020)

Course Description: This seminar examines the links between diversity and social inequalities in contemporary societies, including Germany. This seminar prepares future teachers to become critical social justice educators. More specifically, students in this seminar;

  • Gain knowledge of the meaning of diversity and social inequalities in education
  • Understand the larger social contexts that shape individual experiences and limit and expand life chances
  • Gain knowledge on how our educational system can both perpetuate and mitigate social inequalities
