Course offerings


UNIcert® III level

The UNIcert® III/1 and III/2 English for Economics and Business Studies courses and their affiliated exams (III/1 course examination and III/2 UNIcert® III certificate exam) are offered every semester. Students receive credit points and a final grade upon successful completion of each course.  Please consult your Course and Examination Regulations (StPO) to see how many credit points you receive for attending these courses.

English for Economics and Business Studies UNIcert® III/1 (Part 1 of the UNIcert® III course)
followed by
English for Economics and Business Studies UNIcert® III/2 (Part 2 of the UNIcert® III course)

Certificate:

The UNIcert® III English for Economics and Business Studies certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the UNIcert® III certificate exam following the UNIcert® III/2 course.
 

  • English for Economics and Business Studies UNIcert® III/1

The first part of this discipline-specific course, which requires a result of 70-79% on the placement test, prepares students for the UNIcert® III/1 English for Economics and Business Studies exam at the end of the semester.

The aim of this course is to strengthen the students' listening and speaking skills.  Based on their own independent research, students will discuss and present practical applications of models and theories such as Leadership, Motivation, Decision-Making, Innovation, Business Ethics, Strategies & Standards, and Great Minds from the current and past thought leaders in the industry, all of which form foundations for Economics and Business Administration studies.

  • English for Economics and Business Studies UNIcert® III/2

This is the second part of the UNIcert® III English for Economics and Business Studies certificate course which requires an entrance test result of 80-100% on the placement test.*

The course prepares students for the UNIcert® III English for Economics and Business Studies Certificate exam, which is an admission requirement for the Master’s degree in Economics and Business Studies.

*Students with an entrance test result of 90-100% can choose either the III/2 course or the IV/1 course.

Both the UNIcert III® and the UNIcert® IV certificates are admission requirements for the Master’s degree in Economics and Business Studies.

In addition to further developing the listening and speaking skills practiced in III/1, this course will complete the preparation and practice of reading comprehension and academic writing skills necessary to take the UNIcert III® certificate exam at the end of the semester.

Based on their own independent research, each student will discuss and present their own Case Study Analysis from Management Theory, Objectives & Strategies, Marketing, Production, Personnel, or Finance, all of which form foundations for Economics and Business Administration studies. Students will then document their analysis and argumentation in academic written style.

Both courses are supported by a course-specific E-Learning course as well as additional practice materials on "Moodle 2.UP".

UNIcert® IV level

The UNIcert® IV/1 English for Academic Purposes course and the associated non-certificate exam will be offered in the winter semester 2024/25. 
In the summer semester 2025, the complete cycle, UNIcert® IV English for Economics and Business Studies non-certificate course examination and IV/2 UNIcert® IV course plus certificate exam, will be offered. Students receive credit points and a final grade upon successful completion of each course.  Please consult your Course and Examination Regulations (StPO) to see how many credit points you receive for attending these courses.  
Please note that the UNIcert IV certificate fulfills the admission requirements for the Masters degree in Economics and Business Studies.

The UNIcert® IV English for Academic Purposes certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the UNIcert® IV certificate exam following the UNIcert® IV/2 course.

  • English for Academic PurposesUNIcert® IV/1

The first part of this course, which requires a result of 90-100% on the placement test, prepares students for the UNIcert® IV/1 Englishfor Academic Purposes non-certificate exam at the end of the course.

Please be aware that a score of 90 – 100% on the placement test qualifies students to take eitherUNIcert® III/2 English for Economics and Business StudiesorUNIcert® IV/1 English for Academic Purposes.
