Information for students in English and American Studies who matriculated before Winter Semester 2015/16
Please also refer to the German version for the following information.
All students who matriculated before Winter Semester 2015/16 - both prospective teachers of English and those in the English and American Studies program - should complete the courses in the language practice modules according to the “new Course Regulations” of 4 March 2013 (Prospective Teachers of English):
i) “Writing I (basic module / Sprachpraxis 1) and II (advanced module / Sprachpraxis 2)" (2 semester hours each):
a) These students must take “Writing I” and can only enroll in the course as follows:
1. Select “Course Catalog” in PULS
2. Select “Search for courses” (left column) and enter the course title, “English Writing I” (important: write the letter “I,” not the numeral “1”)
3. Choose the group you want without a test number!
* Course results are only booked after the successful completion of this course in this semester, and the Writing II course (through the test number 4022) in the following semester.
b) You must complete “Writing I” (2 semester hours) to be admitted to “Writing II” (2 semester hours).
c) To take the “Writing II” course, you must have completed all of the basic or foundation modules.
d) “Writing I (basic module / Sprachpraxis 1) and II (advanced module / Sprachpraxis 2)" (2 semester hours each) can therefore not be taken at the same time.
ii) “Listening Comprehension and Oral Expression I" (2 semester hours):
a) These students should take “Listening Comprehension and Oral Expression I" (new CR).
b) Students who have taken “Pronunciation” but not “Listening Comprehension and Oral Expression I,” should inform Dr. Prickett.
Registration Procedure for Students of Erasmus and other Exchange Programs (Restricted Spots)
Are you an exchange student (Erasmus or other program)?
Due to the limited number of spots in our courses, our department and the University of Potsdam's International Office have developed the following guidelines for Erasmus students.
● International students whose major is English and/or American Studies can register for a section of the course(s) that fits their schedule. If there are enough spots in the course, they will be admitted to the course.
● Erasmus and other exchange students will not be automatically admitted to courses.
● On a case by case basis, Erasmus students might be permitted to attend language courses at the Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik (Masters-level courses). Please contact the Institute directly.
