English for Academic Purposes (EAP) / Englisch für akademische Zwecke
These courses are open to students from all disciplines who want to improve their English skills. These are interdisciplinary learning opportunities that are oriented particularly towards students in the Human Sciences and the Faculty of Arts, for which there are currently no discipline-specific courses on offer.
Students in all fields who have reached a placement test result between 50 and 89 points can complete “English for Academic Purposes” UNIcert courses on levels II/1, II/2, III/1 and III/2 that correspond to their placement test results, thereby completing credit points in their key competence areas, depending on the Course Regulations, or acquiring important additional professional and key competences.
For students who are planning to study abroad or complete an internship abroad, or who are interested in a master’s program, and who have not yet attained the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference, we recommend, in accordance with their respective prior skills, to take courses on the UNIcert III level and complete the UNIcert examinations to earn a UNIcert III certificate on the required language level, which is usually C1.
