Subsidy for Conference Organization

The Potsdam Graduate School (PoGS) may grant subsidies for conference organization to PhD candidates, temporary employed postdocs, juniorprofessors or newly appointed professors of the University of Potsdam and its associated institutes. These grants are intended to support the independent organization of scientific events (e.g. congress, symposium, colloquium, summer schools etc.) at the University of Potsdam by the applicants as well as to enable them to present their research results and network with researchers from other research institutions.

Members of the PoGS can submit one application for a subsidy for conference organization per year. Applications can only be considered, if financial means are still left in the respective month of the event. There is no application deadline. You can submit your application for a subsidy for conference organization at any time but it has to be done prior to the start of the event.

Please note: The provisional budget management has a significant impact on the funding opportunities of the PoGS. As our funding offers are financed by budgetary funds, all activities must be checked for necessity before funding is granted. We are not allowed to approve any funding without prior authorisation from Department 4 (Finance and Procurement). You must therefore obtain the approval of Department 4 for your activity or measure in the form of a check sheet before applying for funding from PoGS. This applies to all PoGS funding opportunities. The check sheets must be submitted via Form.UP. Further information can be found on the intranet of the University of Potsdam (in German). 

Prerequisite for funding

  • Membership in the Potsdam Graduate School.
  • Independent organization of the event by the applicant.
  • The scientific event takes place at the University of Potsdam or, in case of virtual events, is hosted by the University of Potsdam.
  • The applicant participates at the event and preferably presents their own research results as poster or talk or moderates the event (applicants’ contribution).

Postdocs &  Qualification Professors: Please also refer to the document “Information on Application for a Subsidy for Conference Organization” (see download box below) for the current maximum funding rates. The maximum fundingamount per person and calendar year is a total of €2000. This amount applies as a total amount for all funding and can be used at your own personal decision for the different funding areas (except coaching) per calendar year.
