September 2024: Presenting at the GfÖ conference in Freising
More than 780 scientists gathered at the 53rd Annual Conference of the German Ecological Society (GfÖ) in Freising. In dozens of sessions, speakers contributed to the overarching theme "The future of sustainable land use across ecosystems, landscapes and biomes". Our PhD students Vistorina Amputu and Lisa-Maricia Schwarz shared insights from their research in semi-arid rangelands. Vistorina presented "Drone models to predict rangeland resources are transferable in space and time", based on her recently published paper (https://doi.org/10.3390/rs16111842). Lisa presented her talk "Plant functional composition buffers productivity loss in semi-arid rangelands under drought and high grazing intensity", based on the findings of Helen Schroeter's MSc study. Despite the long days, the atmosphere on the TUM campus was good and there were many fruitful discussions. Our doctoral students enjoyed the conference very much and can draw inspiration and positive impulses from it.
