December 2024: Scientists and policymakers will gather in Namibia for IPBES 11

The eleventh session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES 11) will take place in Windhoek, Namibia, from 10 to 16 December 2024. At IPBES 11, the Plenary will consider the thematic assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health (nexus assessment), as well as of the underlying causes of biodiversity loss and the determinants of transformative change and options for achieving the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity (transformative change assessment). In addition, the scoping report for the Second Global Assessment on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services will be discussed.

IPBES is the independent intergovernmental body that assesses the state of biodiversity and the ecosystem services it provides to society, in response to requests from policymakers.
