September 2024: Poster presentations at the Tropentag 2024 in Vienna
Around 500 scientists presented at Tropentag 2024, an international conference focused on research in tropical and subtropical agriculture, natural resource management, and rural development. In over 70 sessions, the conference theme "Explore opportunities… for managing natural resources and a better life for all" was addressed.
Our project PIs Stefan Liehr and Markus Rauchecker from ISOE presented two collaborative posters showcasing the social-ecological science research from NamTip. Stefan talked about ongoing conceptual and empirical work on "Social-ecological tipping points in the rangeland system in the Waterberg region in Namibia" (Poster - PDF, 2.395 KB), while Markus reported preliminary findings from the analysis "Combating desertification through development projects in Namibia's Waterberg region – state building instead of desertification reduction" (Poster - PDF, 1.678 KB). Both Stefan and Markus were pleased to engage with a new audience, gaining valuable insights from discussions with other presenters.
