This year's DAAD Prize winner, Juan Camilo Ceballos Oviedo, impresses with his outstanding academic achievements as well as his extraordinary commitment to political and social issues. Two areas are particularly close to his heart: the rights of the LGBT community and the fight against corruption in politics and administration. The Colombian is in his fourth semester studying the Master's programme National and International Administration and Policy (MA NIA).

Juan Camilo not only volunteers for transparency in politics and administration, but has already worked professionally in this field in Mexico and Colombia. He is drawing on this enormous wealth of knowledge and experience in writing his master's thesis on the topic of campaign financing and its impact on the risk of corruption in Colombia.

After completing his studies, Juan Ceballos plans to do a doctorate in Germany in order to delve even deeper into the topic of corruption. Now, for the time being, he is happy about the great recognition through the DAAD Prize, which has given him new impetus in writing his master's thesis.
