Research focus:

I research hydrologic extremes, such as floods and droughts. My aim is to understand the underlying processes to generate these extremes across the globe. For that I use two different methods: Automated text analysis and hydrologic modelling.

Text mining of scientific articles, including in-depth text analysis using large language models, allows access to the wealth of knowledge accumulated in scientific publications. Hydrologic models, on the other hand, generate large scale predictions of future hydrologic extremes. Both approaches can contribute to our process understanding and improve how we deal with future hydrologic extremes.
