PROMOS 2025:
The call for applications for PROMOS 2025 will be published here at the beginning of the winter semester!
PROMOS 2025
Are you planning a short stay abroad to do an internship in Latin America? Are you hoping to write your final thesis in Canada? Are you unsure how to afford it?
Then, the PROMOS scholarship program is just right for you. PROMOS scholarships are part of a mobility program launched by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). However, the administration and allocation of funds lies in the hands of the International Office. The advantage for you is that you can apply for partial funding for your short stay abroad at relatively short notice and in a relatively uncomplicated manner with easy access to the responsible parties at the International Office.
What is funded?
- One- to six-month study stays abroad
Study stays that are not part of the Erasmus+ program. In other words, PROMOS targets students who would like to study for a semester at a university outside Europe or at a European university with which there is no Erasmus+ agreement, or who are ineligible for renewed Erasmus+ funding. - One- to six-month stays abroad to write a final thesis
Writing a final thesis anywhere in the world. For students who would like to write a final thesis at a university, institute or company in a foreign country. - Four-week to six-month internships abroad
You can apply for PROMOS funding for internships outside Europe.
Funding is not availabe for internships in EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Turkey because of overlaps with the Erasmus+ Internship Program.
Students can still apply at the DAAD for internships at EU institutions and the bodies and organizations that manage EU programs, at Germany's diplomatic missions, the Goethe Institutes, the German Humanities Institutes, the German Archaeological Institute, and the German schools abroad that are supported by the German government (DAS schools). PROMOS funding is not possible in such cases.
Allocations are subject to the provision of funds by the DAAD.
