Campus license - Microsoft
The University of Potsdam has joined the so-called university framework agreement of Microsoft. With this, temporary usage rights were acquired for the Education Desktop with Core CAL Suite for students and Enterprise CAL Suite for employees. In addition, the Core Server platform was licensed within the framework of the university framework agreement (EES Campus Agreement).
The unlimited, university-wide purchase of Microsoft licenses (Office Professional Plus, Windows and the server products) creates the basis for ensuring correct licensing of the workstations at the University of Potsdam and thus legal certainty.
Through the conclusion of the EES Campus contract by the University of Potsdam, both the official use of e.g. Windows and Office Professional Plus, as well as the private use of Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) is secured through the Student Advantage Benefit or Teacher Benefit for all members of the University of Potsdam. This means that all members of the University of Potsdam (students and employees) may use Office 365 and its components exclusively for private and non-commercial purposes.
The offer is supplemented by Azure Dev Tools, which is available to all members of the University of Potsdam from the STEM fields for teaching and non-commercial research.

Position of colleges on the "DSK statement on the use of Microsoft 365".
The board of ZKI e.V. takes a position on the statement of the German Data Protection Conference (DSK): According to this statement, Microsoft 365 continues to be in violation of data protection and is therefore not suitable for legally compliant use in schools, universities or public authorities, for example.

If you do not know the long form of your E-Mail address, please log in to Moodle (https://moodle2.uni-potsdam.de) and click on "Show profile" at the top right. The long form of your email address will then be displayed.
EES Campus contract for official use
All members of the University of Potsdam with a valid UP email address (students and staff) are entitled to use the software. The following software may only be used for official and non-commercial purposes. Employees may additionally install the software on a private end device for official use. Students may install the software on a device that has been exclusively provided to them by the University of Potsdam.
The right to use the software expires upon the expiration of your employment contract or when the student or employee leaves the University of Potsdam.

Student Advantage & Teacher Benefit (Microsoft 365 Apps)
All members of the University of Potsdam with a valid UP email address (students and employees) are entitled to this benefit for private non-commercial use only. For official use, Office 2019 is available via the above-mentioned EES contract.
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) and its components may only be used privately. They may not be installed or used on official computers owned by the University of Potsdam.
You can install and use Microsoft 365 on five PCs or Macs as well as on five additional mobile devices (iPad, Windows Tablet, etc.) and smartphones. In addition, you can access the mobile Office applications from the iPhone or Android devices (the mobile Office applications are already pre-installed on Windows Phones).
You are solely responsible for the proper use of Microsoft 365. If you wish to use the Microsoft offer, you will conclude a corresponding usage agreement when you register with Microsoft. Please also note the other terms of use (German) and the information on data security, data protection and the use of cloud services (German).
If you are no longer a member of the University of Potsdam or if your EES Campus contract expires, your right to use Microsoft 365 will expire.

Azure Dev Tools for Education
All students and employees of the University of Potsdam from the STEM fields are entitled to use the software exclusively for teaching purposes and non-commercial research.
The software may only be used for teaching purposes and non-commercial research. If the software is used exclusively for research and teaching, it may also be used on the private computers of teachers and students. Students may only install operating system products on their computer if a fully licensed version of a Windows operating system is already installed on this computer. A valid Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for a Windows operating system must already be attached to the relevant computer.
Azure Dev Tools is operated entirely by Microsoft. You enter into a contractual relationship with Microsoft. You yourself are responsible for compliance with the license conditions.

All employees of the University of Potsdam are entitled to use the software for business purposes. Please refer to the ZIM web shop for prices.
