PhD-Day & PostDoc Day
Report from PhD & PostDoc Day 2024:
The PhD and Post Doc Day took place on June 10, 2024, offering a diverse program tailored specifically to the needs and interests of PhD students and post docs.
At the beginning of the event, there was a get-to-know-you game that gave participants the opportunity to get to know each other better through their departments and to network.
The Potsdam Graduate School also introduced itself and presented its work and the support options it offers to doctoral students and postdocs. The program also included exciting career presentations that highlighted alternative career paths outside of academia. These sessions were particularly valuable for those looking to shape their professional future outside academia.
Another highlight was the session on successful article publishing. Prof. Dr. Julia Brennecke, Professor of Business Administration, in particular Innovation Management and member of the Editorial Review Boards of the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management and Journal of Management Studies and Prof. Dr. Lena Hipp, Professor of Social Inequality and Social Policy gave valuable tips and strategies on how to successfully publish academic papers.
They also introduced themselves:
- The "Universitätsgesellschaft" presented its diverse activities and support options.
- Potsdam Transfer provided information about its services and projects that promote the transfer of knowledge between university and industry.
- The Postdoc Network Brandenburg introduced itself and offered insights into its services and opportunities for networking and supporting postdocs.
- The Division of Planning, Statistics and Research Affairs at the University of Potsdam (D1). It presented its advisory and support services relating to the funding, cooperation and formal documentation of research projects. You can view the presentation here.
During the breaks, participants were able to enjoy refreshments sponsored by the "Universitätsgesellschaft". The breaks also offered further opportunities to network and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. Overall, the PhD and Post Doc Day was a great success.
