SBW Berlin gGmbH
The SBW Berlin scholarship for international students is aimed at international students who already work with social institutions or non-profit organizations in their home countries. Ideally, the projects that scholarship recipients develop and work on during their studies are already part of the non-profit work of these institutions or organizations and contribute to improving living conditions there.
Scholarships are granted for a limited period, usually for the upcoming semester. Please refer to the Guidelines and Criteria for the SBW Berlin scholarship for international students for further information.
During the early stages of the application process, applicants do not have to submit the university admission letter yet or prove conditional acceptance to a university.
Application Requirements:
- Between the ages of 18-30 years
- Professional or volunteer experiences in the non-profit sector (supported by letters of recommendation from the social institution or non-profit organization)
- Have demonstrably not resided in Germany for more than 18 months prior to application
- Strong intention to work in the country of origin for at least 18 months after the completion of the study program or to engage in charitable activities in Germany until the repayment plan is fulfilled
- Proven relatively low household net income
- No first-degree family members who reside permanently in Germany
- Application before the start of their university education or fully enrolled in the first, second or max. third semester at a state-recognized university (in Germany or abroad) or application for a master’s degree shortly before or after obtaining a bachelor’s degree
- Average grades corresponding to a German grade point average of at least 2.0 (80%)
- No additional funding from outside sources possible
- Expectation: Proactive development of social projects during the study period and writing of project reports.
