Update Account.UP & HPC-Cluster am 1.12.2022 ab 7 Uhr

1. Account.UP - Self-Service-Portal für Ihren Universitäts-Account

Bisher konnten Sie in Account.UP Ihren Account aktivieren, sowie Ihr Passwort ändern und wiederherstellen. Der Dienst wird zu einem Self-Service-Portal ausgebaut, welches Ihnen mehr Datensouveränität bietet. Einige Einstellungen werden nun überhaupt erst möglich und einige bisher papierbasierte Prozesse können Sie fortan digital eigenständig durchführen:

1. Auswahl in welcher Form Ihr "Angezeigter Name" und Ihre "Angezeigte E-Mail-Adresse" in ZIM-Diensten dargestellt wird, dies betrifft bspw. Box.UP, Moodle.UP oder CMS. Auch für die „Angezeigte E-Mail-Adresse“ in Mail.UP ist das möglich.
2. Einsichtnahme in die über Sie hinterlegten Daten in der „Selbstauskunft“.
3. Suche nach Informationen von Angehörigen der Universität Potsdam in der „Kontaktsuche“.
4. Erstellen und Verwalten von E-Mail-Verteilern (nur für Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter der Universität).
5. Verwaltung von Gast-Accounts (die Berechtigung dazu erfolgt manuell, bitte nehmen Sie bei Bedarf Kontakt über zim-serviceuuni-potsdampde mit uns auf).
6. Einrichtung und Verwaltung der Zugänge zu Virtuellen Maschinen und zum HPC-Cluster (siehe unten).

2. High-Performance-Computing-Cluster (HPC-Cluster)

Durch das Update von Account.UP wird der Zugang zum Compute-Cluster für Hochleistungsrechnen erheblich erleichtert: Sie können selbständig Ihren zentralen UP-Account für das HPC-Cluster freischalten, SSH-Keys hinterlegen und Arbeitsgruppen verwalten.

Im HPC-Cluster steht Ihnen verschiedene wissenschaftliche Software über Environment-Modules zur Verfügung, es werden aber auch conda-Environments und Singularity-Container unterstützt. Dashboards mit grafischer Aufbereitung des Ressourcenverbrauchs unterstützen Sie bei der Nutzung.

Innovations at two central IT services of ZIM will be carried out on Thursday, December 1st, starting at 7 am.

1. The Account.UP service will undergo an update and become a self-service portal for your university account.
2. This will make the High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster more accessible and easier for you to manage.

On 12/1/2022, the Account.UP application will not be available from 7am to 11am.

1. Account.UP - Self-Service Portal for your University Account

Previously, Account.UP allowed you to activate your account, as well as change and recover your password. The service will be expanded to a self-service portal, which offers you more data sovereignty. Some settings will now be possible for the first time and some previously paper-based processes can be carried out digitally from now on:

1. Selection in which form your "Display Name" and your "Display E-mail Address" will be displayed in ZIM services, this concerns e.g. Box.UP, Moodle.UP or CMS. This is also possible for the "Sender name" in Mail.UP.
2. Viewing the data stored about you in the "Self-disclosure".
3. Search for information of members of the University of Potsdam in the "Contact Search".
4. Creating and managing e-mail lists (only for employees of the University).
5. Administration of guest accounts (authorization for this is done manually, please contact us via zim-serviceuuni-potsdampde if needed).
6. Setup and management of access to Virtual Machines and the HPC cluster (see below).

2. High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPC Cluster)

The update of Account.UP makes the access to the compute cluster for high-performance computing much easier: You can independently activate your central UP-account for the HPC Cluster, deposit SSH keys and manage workgroups.

In the HPC Cluster, various scientific software is available to you via environment modules, conda environments and singularity containers are also supported. Dashboards with graphical presentation of the resource consumption are available too.
