The DFG project "Carbon Governance Arrangements and the Nation-State: The Reconfiguration of Public Authority in Developing Countries" addressed the research question of how (and to what extent) various globally operating governance arrangements in the context of international climate policy affect the distribution of public authority within nation-states. The empirical focus of the project was on examining the city network C40 and the governance mechanism REDD+ in four emerging, democratic economies of the Global South: Brazil, South Africa, India, and Indonesia.
