Information for Election Workers

The office and body elections could not take place without the active support of volunteer election workers. All relevant information for election workers is summarised below.

Fundamentals

  • Election workers must be members of the University of Potsdam and are not allowed to run in the respective elections.
  • Election workers must attend an election worker training (approx. 1-2 hours) and be instructed about the legal frameworks for elections at the University of Potsdam and data protection. Further information will be distributed after successful application.
  • Student election workers receive an expense allowance according to the statute on expense allowances (SatzAufwE). For members of other status groups, the assistance is considered working time, there is no expense allowance.
  • Details are regulated by WahlO § 9 Wahlleiterin oder Wahlleiter and Wahlgeschäftsstelle paragraph 2(version of 15.04.2020).

Application and Working Procedure

  • Election office publicly advertises for election helpers via e-mail.
  • Subsequently, non-binding application as election worker:
    • Submit application within the date deadline
  • Accepted election workers receive a confirmation. Rejections may be sent.
  • Upon receipt: Return mandatory acceptance to election office. The procedure for this follows.
  • Afterwards, election workers receive information on necessary instructions and poll worker training.
    • e.g. deployment plan, deployment location and contact persons
  • After the election: Election workers must fill out the form for reimbursement of expenses and submit it to the election office to be checked/signed by the election office.
