Milena Rabovsky is Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience and specialises in language processing in the brain. She knows, for example, how learning effects are caused by prediction errors. Her colleague Jacob Fink-Lamotte, Junior Professor of Clinical Psychology, has set out to spread the "Magic of Disgust" at the Science Slam, while Dr Johannes Gurke from the Institute of Chemistry wants to reveal how "Cling film can be used to understand the brain". Dr Matthias Hartlieb, a specialist in the development of antimicrobial polymers as an alternative to antibiotics, also comes from the Department of Chemistry. How will he explain this in the slam?
Didactics professor Amitabh Banerji has opted for "Green hydrogen instead of Putin's natural gas" and will show in his slam how chemistry lessons at school can be made "STEM-interesting". From there, it's straight on to art lessons, where Maja Linke, Professor of Artistic Practice, aims to get people thinking with a flood of meaningful questions.
Those in the audience can award points as part of the jury and thus vote on who wins the Science Slam. Tickets for €12 / reduced €8 are available in advance at: https://www.waschhaus.de/veranstaltungen/science-slam-15-11-2023. Tickets will also be available at the box office.
