20.04.2024: Putting the future of European security to the test

Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann and Sönke Neitzel in conversation

The event took place on 20 April 2024.

Europe must be prepared to defend itself. In view of the seemingly overlapping events - the ongoing Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the war between Israel and Hamas, the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, the tensions in the South China Sea - and the controversial discussions about arms deliveries and Germany's role, the question arises as to how Europe, and Germany in particular, can ensure its own security. And should do so.

The super election year 2024 throws additional light on this topic and emphasises the urgency of an effective security policy. In a high-profile panel discussion, Dr Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chairwoman of the Defence Committee in the German Bundestag, and Prof. Dr Sönke Neitzel, renowned historian and military expert, will shed light on the future of the European security architecture.

The discussion is in German.
