Kick-off Workshop 2021
A promising start of GreenGaDe, our cross-continental collaborative project in West Africa.
Our Kick-Off Workshop took place on November 2-6, 2021 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. This event formally pronounced the commencement of the project designed to be conducted through a collaboration between partner institutions in Germany, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Niger.
The workshop featured keynote speeches by representatives of the Ministry of Environment of Burkina Faso, the President of UJKZ, Directors of INERA, and the Director of WASCAL (West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use) Competence Centre. In addition, our PhD candidates presented their individual dissertation outlines and future project plans to a larger audience. Finally, our consortium visited the research sites comprising the land uses croplands, forests, and fallow lands in Ouagadougou, where supervisors and senior scientists of the project demonstrated some of the protocols that students are going to apply in their field sampling during their PhD work.
