Cultural and Arts Education in Rural Areas – A Global Literature Review (Dataset)

This is the first public version of a dataset referencing 290 publications - mainly journal articles and edited volume chapters - on cultural and arts education in rural areas, covering more than 60 countries on all continents. It is based on a combined exploratory and systematic literature review aiming at representing a diversity of geographical, thematic and causal perspectives. Each publication is annotated the method of discovery (exploration, systematic top-journals review, snowball sampling), whether it covers key subtopics (rural schools; local arts and cultural institutions; indigenous and minority groups; maritime and mountainous areas; women and girls) and which causal perspective is taken (rurality as dependent variable; cultural and arts education as DV; both directions: none: other). The dataset invites more svstematic research on the overall topic and the subtopics.
