Public Management in practice

As part of a project course, students put themselves in the position of public consultants. They analyse concrete practical challenges of a public organisation and develop solutions and concepts. They interact directly with clients, for whom an offer is formulated as a first step. To prepare students specifically for this task, a workshop with experienced senior consultants is held beforehand. The results drawn up independently are presented verbally and in writing to the clients. They must carry out research, data collection and concept development largely independently, and prepare presentations and a final report with ongoing support for the project by the lecturer.

Results from two pracitce projects in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 semesters have now been presented in the journal Kommune21. Kommune21 is a practice-oriented magazine in the field of e-government and digitalisation of the public sector at the local level and one of the leading specialist magazines for senior administrative officials, heads of state offices and practitioners in cities, municipalities and districts.
