Elena Sondermann is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Relations. Her focus is on theoretically guided research on the historical and normative foundations as well as possibilities and limits of global cooperation, primarily in global development and global health. In addition, she deals with interpretative research approaches in IR and foreign policy analysis.
She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her dissertation focused on "Making Sense of UK Aid: The Changing Role of Leadership in Fields of British Foreign Aid". Before, she studied Political Science, Economic Policy and Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Münster. Most recently, she was a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
