Michael Giesen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Relations. His main research interests include the emergence, design, and effect of diverse types of international organizations, especially in fields of global human rights and environmental politics.
Since 2021, he holds a PhD in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Free University Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin, and University of Potsdam. Before joining the University of Potsdam, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bamberg in a DFG-founded project on collective agency of horizontal international organizations. During his previous research, he was a research fellow of the joint doctoral program ‘Human Rights under Pressure’ at Free University of Berlin and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as a visiting research at Stanford University.
