Research
Our general mission is to develop a mechanistic understanding of how environmental changes and land use impact biodiversity dynamics. Using a spatial perspective we scale up from functional traits and individual organisms to populations and communities and link patch-level processes to landscape dynamics. Combining (mostly spatial) modeling with empirical studies and experiments we primarily work in the focal research fields of
- Community ecology of drylands
- Community ecology of grasslands
- Linking of movement ecology and biodiversity dynamics
- Applied regional conservation
