Research interests

● Non-vascular vegetation (lichens, mosses, algae) and their role for ecosystem processes and climate at the global scale

● Effects of future climatic change on diversity patterns of vegetation, and consequences for ecosystem services

● Feedbacks between early forms of vegetation and climate in the deep geological past

● Process-based, mechanistic modelling of vegetation and their physiological diversity
