Researchers from all over the world have collaborated in a globally coordinated and distributed network experiment called “Biodesert” to gather knowledge on the impacts of climate change and grazing intensity on dryland vegetation. The most recent results have now been published in Nature journal (Gross et al. 2024: Unforeseen plant phenotypic diversity in a dry and grazed world) demonstrating an unexpected increase in plant functional diversity with high aridity levels. Scientists from this working group have participated in the study through data collection in two sites in South Africa and in paper writing.
