Expertise in subsurface hydrology from bench scale to regional scale, including lab and field measurement, the numerical modeling of water flow in variably saturated media and groundwater, and the transfer of waterand solutes from soil to plants via the rhizosphere; develops novel measurement approaches of spatial patterns and the retrieval of underlying processes; has introduced the application of neutron imaging to investigate water uptake by plant roots and was one of the first to apply CRNS in agricultural fields.
