Detector Development (DD)

The Detector Development (DD) group is responsible for the development of the detectors. A new innovative method will be used which overcomes the limitations of older existing methods such as BF₃ and ³He. The dedicated detector is built on the basis of solid B₄C converter layers and allows for soil moisture measurement under normal conditions. Furthermore, the detector is easier to handle, especially on large areas, with a higher accuracy excluding unwanted biases.
