The Virus Biology and Biophysics Network

The Virus Biology and Biophysics Network (VBBN) was established in 2022 by a group of leading researchers in the field, including Daniel Lauster (FU, Berlin), Christian Sieben (HZI, Braunschweig), Hannah Sperber (UK Essen), Andreas Herrmann (FU Berlin), Roland Schwarzer (UK Essen), Annett Petrich (UK Heidelberg) and Salvatore Chiantia (University Potsdam). This initiative aims to explore a wide range of topics spanning virology, biophysics, and bioinformatics, with a primary focus on promoting collaborations and knowledge sharing. Each presenter will showcase cutting-edge techniques and ongoing projects from their respective labs, laying a strong groundwork for future joint efforts. Additionally, the event will spotlight recent advancements in molecular virology through the lens of biophysical and bioinformatics methodologies. The meeting sessions will cover topics such as innovative imaging techniques, advanced model systems, virus-host interactions, and antiviral research.
