Project Z04

Transfer & Outreach

Principal investigator: Amitabh Banerji

This project is twofold. In the transfer part, we aim to develop hands-on experiments and teaching-materials for understanding light-driven plasmonic processes on an undergraduate or graduate level (e.g. schools and higher educational institutions) following the concept of Curriculum Innovation. In the outreach part, we aim to develop science communication activities (e.g. Girls’ Days, science fairs, science slams) and to integrate the CRC research fellows into these activities to foster their science communication skills by offering special outreach modules in the IRTG qualification program. The doctoral candidate will be mainly responsible for the first part on Curriculum Innovation.

Position 1 (ID no. CRC1636Z04-1/2023; Prof. Amitabh Banerjee, University of Potsdam):

Responsibilities:

Development of hands-on experiments and teaching materials related to selected core concepts and principles of the CRC. Evaluation and optimization of the experiments and teaching materials to form a teaching-kit containing all necessary materials for science education and communication.

Qualifications:

Master degree in chemistry and/or physics education (M.Ed.) or a related discipline at the time of project start. Interdisciplinary mindset and excellent communication skills for working in the team. Ideal candidates have a background in developing hands-on experiments and teaching materials on innovative topics following the concept of Curriculum Innovation. Experience with innovative technology as animation-tools, AR/VR-tools or AI-tools is a big plus.
