Dr. Elisabeth Hamacher Foundation Award in Medieval History (awarded until 2016)
The Chair of Medieval History at the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts has been able to award the ‘Dr Elisabeth Hamacher Foundation Prize in Medieval History’ on a private initiative since 2003.
The donor, who now lives in Berlin after working as a doctor and psychologist in US and German hospitals, among other places, found her way to the Department of History since the university's foundation in 1991, and thus became particularly interested in medieval research. Dr Hamacher established this endowment prize out of her appreciation of historical education and to promote young academics in the field of medieval history. Since 2003, prizes have been regularly awarded for special achievements in the final theses of various degree programmes in the history of the Middle Ages and regional cultural history.
The Department of History and the Faculty of Arts would like to thank the donor for her exemplary civic commitment.
