Guidelines for writing a Term Paper
The following information should provide you with some guidance if you are interested in writing a term paper at the Chair of Political Theory. Please always make sure to consider individual requirements and information you have received from the lecturer of the corresponding course. More detailed information on specific performance requirements can usually be found in the course syllabus.
Please also read all information on our leaflet carefully.
Topic and Research Question
When choosing a topic, you can generally orient yourself on the topics of political theory and the history of political thought discussed in the seminar. Please make sure that your topic has been explicitly approved by the respective lecturer before starting the writing process. It is highly recommended to first contact your lecturer with the following information: A proposed topic in the form of an elaborated research question and an overview of the arguments of the paper (1 DIN A4 page).
Formalities
Your term paper should be written in a suitable font (Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman) in font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. It is also recommended to use fully justified text (Blocksatz) for better readability. The standard settings for page margins should be retained. You should also include page numbers (beginning on the first page containing full text).
