Our elected representatives

Ekaterina A. - M.Sc Linguistics ETF (representative) - I am in the 5th semester in the UP and am interested in the interfaces between theoretical linguistics and psycholinguistics. In my free time, I write short stories and go bouldering.

Hugo M. - B.Sc Computational Linguistics - I've been a computational linguistics student since 2021. My focus lies on natural language processing with machine learning, as well as server management. Open-source software is very important to me, so I actively contribute to various projects under the username 'theoreticallyhugo'. Through these contributions, I aim to apply and expand upon the skills I'm developing in my studies.

Julien H. - B.Sc Linguistics - I am a mature student, having retired from Management Consulting a few years ago. My first degree was in Engineering at Cambridge University. I first developed an interest in linguistics when I read the Stephen Pinker book "The Language Instinct" and started at Uni Potsdam in WiSe 2023.

Minona L. - B.Sc Linguistics - I am in my 5th Semester of studying at University of Potsdam. I chose linguistics because I loved the scientific view on language. After my Bachelors degree I plan on studying my Masters.

Emélie R. - B.Sc Linguistics (treasurer)

Friedrich K. – B.Sc. Linguistics – I am passionate about hearing people less lazy than me talk about their work in linguistics and have been trying to do some formal semantics and pragmatics myself recently. I started at Uni Potsdam in WiSe 2020.

Yan Li (he/him/they/them) - B.Sc Linguistics - Yan was formally a headhunter in pharmaceutical and biotech industries, he’s now a research assistant at Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft (ZAS). Yan has completely fell in love with linguistics ever since he watched the movie Arrival in the movies. Fun fact about Yan, his name has the direct semantic association with the notion of‘language’ and ‘speech’ in its origin. Oh, and he’s definitely a heroic ace panda with the personality of a Bernese Mountain Dog.

Akila D. - M.Sc Linguistics ETF - I am mainly attracted to Languages of the World and particularly to child language acquisition. I am currently working in project C07. I like contact with students and guiding them on their journey in UP.
