Diversity-oriented teaching at the UP
Diversity-oriented teaching is inclusive, discrimination-sensitive and prejudice-conscious. It takes into account the diversity of students and related barriers and disadvantages and tries to create a good, stimulating and appreciative learning setting for all. For example, as instructors, it is important to pay attention to discrimination-sensitive language use in courses and to encourage active handling of possible incidents. A comprehensive approach to diversity-sensitive teaching must take into account several fields of action: from the (self-)perception of teachers, the choice of subject content and teaching-learning methods, communication and interaction to performance assessment and the general conditions.
