“Practical Activities for Legal English Teaching”: Workshop for Legal English Teachers in Brussels
On September 21, EULETA (English Legal Teachers' Association) held its annual workshop for legal English teachers at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Brussels. Over 30 language teachers from Europe took part in workshops on practical legal English activities.
Tom Heaven (Zessko, English language department) organized the workshop “Teaching and Testing Client Interview Skills.” Participants learned how professional field-specific skills can be integrated into language teaching, why the client discussion format is so well-suited for practical language teaching, how to develop activities for language teaching from practical textbooks and how to test language skills related to client discussions.
A number of other exciting workshops also took place. Various topics were covered, including revising older course materials with the help of AI, emotions in language teaching, expanding vocabulary through motivating activities and intercultural skills in professional negotiations.Participants were also able to meet with authors of textbooks and build their contact with COIL partners.
The next annual EULETA workshop will take place in Lille on September 20, 2025, and monthly online meetings will be offered.
