DAAD Study Visit – ESPOL – University of Potsdam
From June 10 to 12, 2024, a group of 12 students from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) in Ecuador visited the University of Potsdam and the Center for Languages and Key Competencies (Zessko). The students, under the supervision of Dr. Katherine Salvador Cisneros, a lecturer in English as a Foreign Language at ESPOL, participated in selected English and Spanish courses and the English and Spanish Language Cafés.
This visit was part of the “DIES National Multiplication Tranings (NMT)” multiplication project of the Center for Quality Development (ZfQ) with support from Mr. Frank Niedermeier of the ZfQ.
In addition to the language courses and the Language Cafés, the visit provided a valuable opportunity for cultural exchange and the strengthening of international academic connections. Dr. Salvador and her students were impressed by the teaching methods and infrastructure at the UP and Zessko.
ESPOL, Ecuador's first public university, expressed great interest in collaborating with UP. Future COIL projects (Collaborative Online International Learning) in language education are planned. ESPOL offers a wide range of study programs, including Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Economics, Biology, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Currently, there are three campuses, with a fourth one on the Galápagos Islands set to open in 2025.
A PowerPoint presentation with key data about ESPOL is available to the UP, supporting the further development of the academic partnership between the two universities.
You can find a report in Spanish on the ESPOL representatives' trip to Europe here.
