Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Bronstert has been appointed a Visiting Professor in the International Centre of Excellence for Dams (ICED) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.

ICED provides specialized technical support in investigations, modelling, research and innovations, and technical support services for Indian and overseas dam owners. The Centre provide science-based solutions to various emerging challenges in dam safety. It will also carry out applied research, education, and technology transfer in dam safety management at local, regional, national, and international levels.

Bronstert will participate in the research and teaching of this centre and interacting with faculty and students at all levels. This position is also an opportunity for developing a collaborative research program or conceiving a sponsored research proposal, jointly with faculty members of IIT Roorkee.

He will focus to the research areas of erosion and sediment transport in upland mountain catchments and the consequences for reservoir deposition. In addition, he will contribute with his expertise on consequences of global and regional climate change on the hydrology and water management issues of large reservoirs in India.
