Dieter Neher is Professor of Soft Matter Physics and Optoelectronics at the University of Potsdam. One of the focal points of his scientific work is research into the dynamics of charges in novel semiconductor materials with regard to optoelectronic applications. One current goal here is to develop materials for efficient solar cells with very thin absorber layers. “Research into new materials is highly competitive,” says Neher. “That makes it all the more gratifying that our work is so well perceived at the University of Potsdam. I think it pays off that we resolutely investigate the physical processes in these materials and try to identify universal regularities.”
Bernd Müller-Röber is Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Potsdam and head of the “Signaling Networks in Plants” research group at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Golm. His research is primarily devoted to plant genomics as well as growth processes and gene regulation in plants. For example, he is investigating how plants react to external influences such as heat, and how they can be made more stress-resistant using molecular biology methods, an important concern in times of climate change. “Climate change is increasingly threatening the foundations of a bio-based economy. We are very pleased that our research on stress tolerance in crop plants is so well perceived internationally,” says Müller-Röber.
The “Highly Cited Researcher” ranking documents the impact of scientific publications that are most frequently cited in their respective fields. It is published annually by the Web of Science Group of the U.S. company Clarivate Analytics.
