On 18 October, our CRC 1644 launched our bi-weekly seminar series with exciting guest speakers on topics related to phenotypic plasticity.
As part of this, we have introduced a new initiative to enrich the learning experience of our PhD students: the 'Meet the Speaker' lunch.
This informal gathering offers our students a fantastic opportunity to interact with invited seminar speakers over lunch in an open, relaxed environment where they can ask questions, get insights and engage in in-depth discussions.
The first lunch was a great success, with PhD students embracing the opportunity to have direct contact with an expert in their field outside of the formal seminar setting.
This new format allows our PhD students to discuss not only research interests with our guest speaker, but also broader academic topics such as career paths, research challenges and emerging trends.
The feedback from our students has been very positive.
The success of our first "Meet the Speaker" lunch highlights the value of such interactive initiatives, and we look forward to hosting many more in the future, promoting a collaborative, and supportive academic community in our CRC 1644.
