Writing and Research Retreat July 2024

17-19th July 2024
Seminarhaus Taubenblau, Lunow-Stolzenhagen, Brandenburg

The three day writing and research retreat in Lunow was all focused on working through tricky dissertation chapters or sections. Using the Pomodoro intensive writing technique of short writing sprints, participants focused on writing and/or editing one particularly tricky dissertation chapter (or section) during the shared offline Pomodoro sessions guided by Sofia Varino as well as during the individual writing sprints.

Throughout the retreat accountability groups of three participants (2 fellows+1 supervisor/postdoc) helped to stay on track by discussing work in progess, as well as challenges and further ideas.

In addition to the writing phases, a guest workshop by Keith Camacho and Juliann Tokanimani Anesi took place on day two and on day three participants engaged in a project theses writing challenge. The challenge invited everyone to think about their projects in its entirety by focusing on their project’s main arguments in the form of thesis statements. The quick drafts where then feedbacked in small groups.
