University President Prof. Oliver Günther, Ph.D., and Acting Rector Prof. Shalaulani James Nsoso of the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today in Potsdam in the presence of Botswanian Ambassador Mmasekgo Masire-Mwamba. The aim of the University of Potsdam is to develop further partnerships in the priority region of Sub-Saharan Africa. Both universities want to promote cooperation in knowledge and technology transfer. In Botswana, for example, there are many committed women who are starting a business or planning to take the step into self-employment. For its part, the University of Potsdam, as one of Germany’s most successful start-up universities, has extensive experience in this area and is well networked internationally in the transfer sector. Further opportunities for cooperation in the areas of water and land management, nutrition and health care are to be explored in the coming year.
