Bertolt Wenzel meets with Officials of the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR) and the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries in Bergen

From 14 to 26 February 2015, WIPCAD research fellow Bertolt Wenzel visited Bergen (Norway) to conduct interviews with officials and experts of the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR), the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries, and the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES). During his stay, he was based at Bergen University’s Department of Administration and Organizational Theory.

In his PhD project, “Organizing Coordination in Marine Governance”, Bertolt examines how public marine management organizations deal with coordination challenges in marine governance. The focus of the project is on the organization of coordination between the areas of fisheries management and marine environmental management in international and national level public organizations engaged in marine governance for the North and Baltic Seas.

The interviews delivered valuable empirical information on current organizational developments in marine governance in Europe and are an important component of this research project.
