From 3-5 July 2014 the ECPR held its 5th Graduate Student Conference at the University of Innsbruck.
WIPCAD 2012 doctoral fellows Thomas Danken, Katrin Dribbisch, and Anne Lange, jointly with Rebecca-Lea Korinek of the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB Berlin), organized and chaired the section "Public Administration". With fourteen participants from across Europe they explored the questions of: how, why, and under which conditions public administrations organize policy responses to 'wicked problems'. The section included the following panels:
1) coordination and multi-level governance,
3) the role of expertise in EU regulatory governance, and
4) the organization of wicked policy problems.
WIPCAD postdoc Dr Thurid Hustedt, along with Dr Anne K. Krüger (HU Berlin), Dr Eva Ruffing (U Hannover) and Dr Stefan Handke (formerly U Hannover) were invited as discussants. The feedback from the participants was very positive and WIPCAD is looking forward to welcoming many of them at the WIPCAD conference in December 2014 at the University of Potsdam.
