Niklas Murken

Niklas ist seit April 2023 Doktorand am Lehrstuhl und beschäftigt sich mit den Auswirkungen sozialer Netzwerke auf klimaadaptives Verhalten wie Migration. Zuvor arbeitete Niklas in einem Forschungsteam der Weltbankgruppe im Senegal, wo er den aktuellen Wissensstand über den Zugang zu Finanzen für vulnerable Bevölkerungsgruppen untersuchte. Niklas hat Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Mannheim (B.Sc.) und der University of Adelaide in Australien studiert und absolvierte einen Masterstudiengang in Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Humboldt-Universität Berlin. Seine Hauptforschungsinteressen liegen in den Bereichen Migration, finanzielle Inklusion und Netzwerkanalyse, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Westafrika.

Niklas joined the chair as a PhD candidate in April 2023 focusing on the impacts of social networks
on climate-adaptive behavior such as migration. Previously, Niklas worked in the Applied Research and Learning team at the World Bank Group in Senegal where he researched the state of the art of access to
finance for vulnerable populations and provided policy recommendations. Niklas studied Economics at the University of Mannheim (B.Sc.) and University of Adelaide/Australia and holds a Master's degree in Economics from Humboldt-University Berlin. His main research interests are in migration, financial inclusion, and network analysis, with a particular focus on Western Africa.
