RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am interested in molecular and cellular mechanisms of outflow tract development in zebrafish and, in addition, investigating development of bicuspid aortic valve - most common congenital heart defect in humans, using zebrafish as a model organism. I aim to look into morphological variance between different cell types and exploring their interaction at the boundaries between different cell types that share some similar properties (endocardium – endothelium, cardiomyocytes – smooth muscle cells). I am also studying the origin the endocardium and looking for a way to induce endocardial differentiation.
