Research interests

 

  • Understanding impact of agricultural practices on GHG emissions
  • Nutrient (NPK) cycling in agroecosyetms and the effect on N2O and CO2 emissions
  • C sequestration and GHG dynamics in natural vegetation and  agricultural lands
  • Assessing the impact of drying and rewetting on GHG dynamics

 

 

Education and experience

 

Since July, 2021 -   Postdoctoral researcher at University of Potsdam in GreenGaDe Project (Greenhouse Gas Determination in West Africa’s Agricultural Landscapes)

2019-2021 - Postdoctoral researcher at Teagasc Environmental Research Centre in MINE Project (Manipulation and Integration of Nitrogen Emissions)

2017-2018 - Research Assistant at University College Dublin (Maintenance of eddy covariance towers together with associated field instrumentation)

2012-2017 - PhD with Prof. Bruce Osborne and Dr Patrick Orr at University College Dublin (Impact of flooding and drying-rewetting events on CO2 and N2O fluxes in a coastal grassland ecosystem)

2008-2011 - MSc in Hydroscience and Engineering at Technische Univeritaet Dresden (Investigations on the systematic errors of precipitation data and possibilities for the correction of these errors)

2005-2008 - Junior Meteorologist at the National Meteorological Agency of Ethiopia (Weather forecasting and climate prediction department)
