Research Focus
| My research focuses on deformation processes, structures at various scales and the complex feedback mechanisms acting between erosion and crustal response. Specific interest is in the analysis of this feedback between endogeneous and exogeneous processes in mountains (e.g. Andes, Himalaya, Makran) and their forelands. Remote sensing applications are used for surface change detection and quantification, whereas additional methods like structural mapping, thermochronology and modelling identify the endogeneous element. The monitoring of natural processes with different sensors and the integration to existing data is a key for the understanding of environmental matters. A recent focus is on the immersive projection and analysis of three- and multi-dimensional geo-data. |

| Some of my work has focused on modeling the contribution to topography from isostatic rebound caused by focused erosion (Zeilinger et al., 2005; Zeilinger et al., 2007). Other papers have focused on tectonic geomorphology (Schlunegger et al., 2006; Zeilinger et al., 2005; Zeilinger & Schlunegger, 2007, Hippe et al., 2012, Zeilinger et al., 2013), neotectonics (Mora et al., 2010, Parra et al, 2010, Hagipour et al., 2012), fluvial erosion in mountainous regions (Kober et al., 2008, Schlunegger et al., 2011, Zeilinger et al., 2013) and structural geology (Garrido et al., 2006, Zeilinger et al., 2007, Gao et al., 2013). |
