The Environmental Commission
With the Senate resolution S 9/192 of 25.01.2012, the Environmental Commission was established at the University of Potsdam, whose constituent meeting took place on 04.04.2012.
The task of the Environmental Commission is the description of ambitious sustainability goals in research, teaching and operation at the UP, which are achieved through measures in various fields of action. In doing so, it is important to focus attention on the connection between the everyday actions of all people at our university and the sustainable development of society. The consumption of fossil fuels for electrical energy, heating and the operation of the buildings, as well as the lifecycle from purchasing to the disposal of paper, consumables and technical equipment play important roles.
The basis for the work are the sustainability guidelines of the UP from 21.10.2020. With these, a framework for exchange, brainstorming and decision-making for actions towards an environmentally friendly University of Potsdam has been created.
The Senate Commission is chaired by the Chancellor and consists of eleven members. All meetings are open to the public and are held quarterly. Dates can be found here or upon request from Ms. Rehfeld (+49 331 977-1771, kerstin.rehfeld@uni-potsdam.de). The meeting location rotates between the Neues Palais and Golm sites.
